Company History

1899  George Monro & Sons established the first Horticultural Sundries division at their Tavistock Street Fruit, Flower and Vegetable wholesaling premises at Covent Garden. 

1922  Head office moved from Covent Garden to Waltham Cross.

1924  Monro introduce the Rototiller 30 and 50 series and the Rowtrac motor plough

At various times during the next thirty years, depots were opened at the following locations - Aylesford, Cheltenham, Chichester, Guernsey, Great Totham, Isles

The Monro Utility Power Sprayer advertised in the 1927 Requisites Catalogue. Price £82

of Scilly, Penzance, Spalding and Worthing. Machinery only stores were set up at Exeter and Stockport.

1942 Monro introduced a balanced 7-7-7 NPK fertiliser called at the time National Growmore. Volck petroleum oil emulsion was also developed and introduced by Monro, in this year, for the control of Red spider mite.
